La Mesa Police are investigating the death of a 62-year-old unhoused woman who was found with head trauma in an encampment, and Crime Stoppers is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.

Authorities on Friday sought a bearded man who may be connected to the death of a homeless woman found near state Route 94.

The woman died after suffering a “serious head injury” on High Street Street just north of state Route 94 on Thursday, La Mesa police said

Officers responded to a 9-1-1 call at 10:33 p.m. reporting an unconscious woman with a serious head injury inside a solo encampment in the 8000 block of High Street in La Mesa.

The suspected homicide in the 8000 block of High Street in La Mesa was reported about 10:30 p.m. Thursday, according to police.
