SAN FRANCISCO - An atmospheric river is bringing heavy rain to San Francisco on Friday, flooding roads across the city. Video shows rising waters in the Marina District and flooded sidewalks along 23rd and Dolores streets. Another video shows cars driving through flooded streets at Henry Adams and Division in the Design District near I-80.

Officials are warning San Francisco residents of dangerous flooding as a powerful atmospheric river propelled by a churning bomb cyclone moves through the region.

The Bay Area prepares for a significant atmospheric river that could bring heavy rainfall and potential flooding mid-week through the weekend.

On Friday at 2 p.m. the NWS San Francisco CA issued an updated flash flood warning. "At 2 p.m., local law enforcement reported flash flooding in NW San Mateo. Between 0.5 and 1 inch of rain has fallen.

The National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning on Friday afternoon for San Francisco as heavy downpours dropped inches of rain on the city. The warning will remain in effect from 12:43 p.m.
