The West Texas high school football postseason continues as local teams continue to the area round of the bracket, hoping to advance to the regional semifinal during Thanksgiving week and the state tournament in mid-December.

This week on WFAA's Friday Night Football, two of the elite private school programs in Texas high school football – Parish Episcopal and Prestonwood Christian – squared off for the second time in a month. And it continued Friday night with the rest of Central Texas playing their area-round games. Westlake and Lake Travis moved on, but Georgetown, Liberty Hill and Bastrop didn't. It was a tough week for Austin-area Class 5A teams.

The 2024 high school football playoffs began in the state of Texas last week, delivering a slew of surprises. The UIL Texas State Football Championships across all six classifications are now set to continue with second-round action in the coming days.
