An area of heavy rain and thunderstorms off the North Carolina and South Carolina coastlines Monday morning, designated Potential Tropical Cyclone 8 (or PTC 8 for short), is the next potential Atlantic system that may affect the continental United States.

We're tracking a pair of storms in the Atlantic to start the week including a tropical cyclone that could bring severe weather to the Carolinas.

What used to be Potential Tropical Cyclone Eight continues to bring rounds of heavy rain to parts of the Carolinas. Close to 20" has fallen in parts of North Carolina around Carolina Beach. The only other system being monitored now is in the central Atlantic.
