Several airlines resumed flights to Bali on Thursday, after cancelling trips to and from the Indonesian resort island due to huge eruptions at a nearby volcano.

Thousands of people headed to and from the tourist island of Bali have reportedly been left stranded at airports due to volcanic and seismic activity.

Travelers hoping to leave or enter the popular Indonesian island of Bali found their flights canceled on November 13 as the ongoing eruption of the nation’s Mount Lewotobi Laki-Laki volcano. According to the Associated Press,

Several flights to and from Bali have been cancelled after the Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki volcano began spewing ash as high as 9km in the sky.

Bali airport management said more than 100 flights were cancelled between November 13-14. A change in wind direction has opened up safe flight paths for some services with some flights from Australia resuming. There was a column of ash more than six miles high after an eruption of Mount Lewotobi.

Several airlines have cancelled flights between Australia and Bali due to dangerous ash clouds from a volcano near the Indonesian holiday island. Qantas, Jetstar and Virgin Australia advised passengers of the disruptions on Wednesday, saying the ash from Mount Lewotaobi Laki-laki made it unsafe to fly.

Jetstar, Qantas and Virgin Australia have resumed flights to Bali after a volcano forced cancellations, with plans for further recovery flights in the future.
