Oil giant Phillips 66 faces federal charges for allegedly violating the Clean Water Act by discharging industrial wastewater with excessive oil and grease from its Carson refinery into Los Angeles County’s sewer system in 2020 and 2021. Prosecutors accuse the Texas-based company of failing to report the violations.

The company allegedly dumped wastewater from its Carson oil refinery into the Los Angeles County sewer system in 2020 and 2021 and did not report the violations, DOJ prosecutors said.
