SpaceXs Starlink Aviation service is expanding rapidly, with 2,500 aircraft now under contract after a recent agreement with United Airlines. This marks a significant milestone in in-flight connectivity,

The service will be free and available gate to gate, similar to other airlines offering Starlink access. United’s announcement says it will start testing this system “in early 2025,” with Starlink connectivity on passenger flights “expected later that year.”

There are currently about 6,000 Starlink satellites in orbit that connect more than 3 million customers in 100 countries, according to the company. SpaceX initially targeted consumer customers, but has expanded into other markets, including aviation.
