The FOX Forecast Center is monitoring the potential for a powerful winter storm to slam the Northeast on Thanksgiving, with snow possible in interior sections of the region and more rain closer to the coast along the Interstate 95 corridor that could put the brakes on post-Thanksgiving travel.

The next storm system could move in as early as Thanksgiving afternoon, but a lot remains unknown at this time.

A fast-moving storm sweeping across the U.S. at the start of the week won’t post too much of a threat, although some snow could lead to delays on the ground and in the air across the Great Lakes region while rain could lead to delays in the Northeast.

A new storm system that will sweep across the nation is expected to arrive along the East Coast right around Thanksgiving Day and Black Friday. The snow threat across the interior Northeast will remain a possibility later next week if the storm's core tracks far enough northward into the corridor

Storm Team 10 is watching a coastal storm likely to develop as people wrap up their Thanksgiving feasts. The weather pattern leading up to Thanksgiving will be seasonable with rain showers likely on Tuesday as a weak disturbance crosses Southern New England.
