The "bomb cyclone" in Northern California leads to less severe weather for San Diego, with light rain expected and minimal impact on Thanksgiving.

A storm system known better a "bomb cyclone" hit the West Coast on Tuesday, resulting in two deaths, power outages for hundreds of thousands (mostly around the Seattle area), bringing heavy rain, landslides and flooding to much of Northern California into Friday— and is moving down the coast into Southern California this weekend.

A "bomb cyclone" riding a long atmospheric river toward the West Coast is expected to bring more than a foot of rain to parts of Northern California and 30-foot waves to the Oregon coast, but the weather will be quite different in San Diego.
