The Humane Society of Missouri (HSMO) rescued 15 dogs from a property in Polk County on Nov. 19. A concerned citizen reported to the Polk County Sheriff's Department that several animals were living in unsafe conditions on the property.

According to a press release, the Humane Society of Missouri's Animal Cruelty Task Force rescued the dogs Tuesday morning after a concerned neighbor called to report their concerns. The press release said police found the property owner dead during a welfare check last week, and several dogs loose on the property with no food or water.
