The NYPD officer who shot by a gunman in Queens Tuesday night was greeted by a round of applause from fellow officers as he left the hospital Wednesday.

An officer with the New York Police Department was shot while in Queens, according to a law enforcement source, with the shooter also hit by a bullet.
