Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has announced the formation of a special investigation team to probe the ghee procurement for Tirupati laddu. An audit of raw material procurement for all temples in the state has also been ordered.

This comes after Naidu and the TDP alleged that during the previous YSRCP government, ingredients such as beef tallow, lard, and fish oil were used in the preparation of Tirumala laddus.

Naidu said that government will consult with leading Hinduism experts to determine the future course of action.

In the letter, the Jagan Mohan Reddy said that Naidu's "reckless" and "politically motivated" statements hurt the sentiments of devotees and "tarnished the sanctity" of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) board.
