Dedan Thomas Jr. had 22 points, five rebounds and four assists to lead the UNLV men’s basketball team past New Mexico State 72-65 in a Saturday afternoon game at the Thomas & Mack Center. The sophomore star scored 15 points in the first half to help the Rebels (4-1) to a 37-34 lead at the break despite shooting just 29.

Late in the first half of UNLV’s 72-65 win over New Mexico State, sophomore point guard D.J. Thomas went airborne. After picking up a steal in the backcourt, Thomas raced ahead of the pack and rose up for a dunk — the first dunk of his collegiate career.
